
Oral Surgeon | Ian S. McDonald, D.M.D., M.D.
Dr. McDonald earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Boston University. He received his Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine, graduating 3rd in his class.
Dr. McDonald completed a six-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, while receiving his Doctor of Medicine degree from New Jersey Medical School and graduating in the top 3rd of his class. He also completed a one-year general surgery internship at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey.
He has authored many scientific articles and a book chapter on maxillofacial trauma. He has extensive experience with bone grafting and implant placement and has placed over 2000 dental implants. He was recently selected by his peers as one of San Diego's "topDentists" for 2011.
Dr. McDonald joined North County Oral & Facial Surgery Center in July 2000. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, playing golf and occasionally going scuba diving.
